Fun. Seriously.

From movie music to classic masterpieces and family favorites, your Marin Symphony’s 61st Season is an inspired place to be. The season kicks off with our first-ever outdoor Waterfront Pops Concert on the Marin Center grounds overlooking the Lagoon featuring John Williams classic movie soundtracks played live by our orchestra on Sunday, September 15, 2013. Bring a picnic, your own chairs, family and friends.

The 61st Season continues with another first, a west coast premiere of the National Young Composers Challenge Composium on Sunday, October 6. Experience six exciting new works by competition winners—top young composers from all over the country. Witness first-hand an amazing afternoon of drama, and music—part master class, competition, live recording session—this totally unique event is thrilling, unpredictable, highly interactive and fast-paced.

The Masterworks Series opens with From Russia with Love on October 27 & 29. Van Cliburn award-winning pianist Jon Nakamatsu returns for Rachmaninoff's Second Piano Concerto, a work overflowing with gorgeous melodies and jaw-dropping virtuosity. Shostakovich's Fifth Symphony is an epic struggle that will have you on the edge of your seats right up to the end.

Establishing a new Marin tradition on Tuesday, December 17, our brand new Holiday Pops Concert will feature the Marin Symphony Orchestra, Chorus and Children’s Chorus.

If you’re a classical musician who would like to deepen your knowledge and skills, our Marin Symphony Orchestra Pro-Am is your chance to improve your playing and have fun side-by-side with top orchestra musicians and get coaching directly from Maestro Alasdair Neale. The special event happens on Saturday, November 9.

A standout in our 2013-14 Season is Masterworks Two: American Dream. In celebration of liberation, this program includes Joseph Schwantner's "New Morning for the World" — a work that draws upon the inspiring words of Marin Luther King, Jr. to create a memorable and moving experience. Renowned Bay Area actor, singer and inspirational speaker Noah Griffin, is our narrator for this extraordinary piece. The concerts take place on January 19th and 21st — surrounding MLK Day on January 20, 2014.

Our Magical Music of Disney Family Concert on Sunday, March 16, 2014 will delight everyone, from children to adults! Timeless animated images are synchronized with music are certain to transport you to favorite Disney musical moments. Highlights include symphonic arrangements from classic films including The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, Mary Poppins, Tarzan and more.

The 61st Season wraps up on Sunday, June 8, 2014, with our second annual Spring Pops Concert — a one-of-a-kind movie experience — Disney’s full-length film, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, with our orchestra performing the soundtrack live!
