The Marin Project "music with a mission"
Saturday, January 18, 6 pm
Award-winning Bay Area musicians and producers created The Marin Project, a jazz, pop, and opera album and concert to help end homelessness and hunger in Marin County. All profits will benefit Homeward Bound Marin and the Salvation Army.
Composer and guitarist Anastasi Mavrides led the two dozen musicians in the recording of The Marin Project, which highlights Mill Valley-based pianist MaryLiz Smith. The other musicians and singers include opera singer Susan Gundunas and jazz/soul/funk/rock bassist Ryan Lukas. The 11-song album includes: “Cast Your Fate to the Wind,” by San Francisco jazz pianist Vince Guaraldi, “Time is Tight” by R&B legend Booker T. Jones, and “Sull’ Aria” from Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro.
“The Marin Project offers a fresh take on these musical gems,” says John Liviakis, executive producer of The Marin Project and founder of Mill Valley-based Liviakis Financial Communications.
The album is available on MP3 via iTunes, Amazon, and www.TheMarinProject. The CD can be purchased at Whole Foods, Woodlands Market and other retailers.
This event includes a live and silent auction.
